Lucy Dlodlo, a seasoned professional in the realm of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability, is making waves in the field of project management consulting, notably serving Vital Recycling with her expertise.

With a rich background spanning various roles, Dlodlo brings a unique blend of experience and passion to her endeavours. Formerly the Corporate Social Investment, Sponsorships, and Events Manager at a local Bank, Dlodlo sharpened her skills in CSR/CSI initiatives, dedicating herself to causes close to her heart.

Additionally, she served in the C Suite as Executive Assistant to the Country’s Chief Executive for a decade, gaining invaluable insights into strategic leadership and organizational dynamics. Dlodlo’s academic prowess is equally impressive, holding diplomas in Marketing and Public Relations from IACSA, along with certifications in Business Sustainability Management from the University of Cambridge, Advanced Project Management, and Executive Support from the University of Cape Town.

Her proficiency extends to SAP Financial Accounting and SAP Materials Management, underlining her versatile skill set. Beyond her professional accolades, Dlodlo’s true calling lies in advocating for vulnerable communities and she is part of Vital Recycling is a waste management company that has been promoting environmentally sound services since 2018.

“We offer waste management services, promoting sustainable, environmentally sound and cost-effective practices through an integrated system of waste reduction, reuse, recycling, customer service and education. We have been in partnership and offered our waste management services to manufacturing companies and big retail franchise based in Zimbabwe. We are also invested in plastic recycling and continue to find innovative, unique ways of recycling plastic, utilizing environmentally friendly recycling and manufacturing methods, converting it into commercially viable products,” said Dlodlo.

Currently, Dlodlo is actively engaged in shaping the future of sustainable mining through training programs geared towards mining company leaders. Her role as a CSR expert highlights the importance of integrating social practices into corporate strategies, fostering sustainable development and community engagement.

In her own words, Dlodlo encourages women to invest in themselves and acquire the necessary skills to thrive in sectors like mining. “I would strongly encourage women to invest in themselves and learn the skills required to support the mining sector. I’d also encourage women not to be afraid to promote their work in sustainability as it is a critical component of career development,” said Dlodlo.

As Lucy Dlodlo continues to champion sustainability and social responsibility, her journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring professionals and advocates alike. Through her dedication and leadership, she embodies the transformative power of corporate citizenship in building a better world for generations to come.
