Delta Corporation Limited, Zimbabwe’s top beverage manufacturer, invests US$200,000 per year in eco-friendly practices, resulting in major improvements in waste management and environmental awareness.

Through its sustainability strategic pillar, the innovative “Circular Packaging” the company is not only soothing thirsts, but also satisfying its thirst for a sustainable future.

Delta’s General Manager of Corporate Affairs, Patricia Murambinda, told The Environment that the company has invested in cages at major shopping malls to collect packaging waste in collaboration with local authorities.

“Delta manages its waste through its sustainability strategic pillar, Circular Packaging. Under this pillar, Delta has invested in cages at major shopping centres to allow collection of its packaging waste in partnership with local authorities. The company invests a total of USD 200,000 annually on this important strategic pillar,” said Murambinda

The beverage manufacturer in collaboration with local authorities, invites consumers to deposit their used Delta packaging in these designated bins, since this collected garbage is then diverted from landfills and given a new life through recycling.

The company’s commitment extends beyond collecting used bottles and cans since it knows that genuine sustainability begins with education, as seen by a number of programmes under the “Make A Difference” campaign.

Delta’s “Make A Difference” campaign promotes garbage separation at the source and correct disposal procedures, and numerous clean-up initiatives are implemented across the country, creating awareness and encouraging people to take control of their environment.

“The company has rolled out various clean up campaigns throughout the country through its Make A Difference Campaign. The campaign creates awareness on the importance of separation of waste at source and disposing it correctly to protect the environment,” she added.

The $200,000 annual investment in Circular Packaging demonstrates Delta’s commitment to a cleaner future. This strategic pillar aims to save the environment, one recycled bottle and one informed citizen at a time.

Such projects illustrate that business achievement and environmental responsibility can coexist, and by adopting sustainable practices, Delta ensures a cleaner, healthier future for future generations.
